Dog Days of Summer

Welcome back to the Live Life Off Leash Blog!

The Dog Days of Summer are here! As the summer winds down and restrictions are being lifted, there’s bound to be lots of changes in your home that can affect your pets. Kids are going back to school, people are going back to work and the likelihood of your home getting much quieter is pretty realistic in many cases. For lots of pets it’s no big deal. For some it’s even a break from some stress if they have noise or activity anxiety. But for some that suffer from separation anxiety it can be tough.

Over at pawTree we offer a lot of products that can help ease some separation anxiety. CBD, vitamins and minerals as well as tastey pill pockets if your dog or cat is on a prescription medication. But beyond that there are some other ways that can help you pet with everyone going back to work and school.

A great way to start is to simply leave the TV or radio on for some background noise. The sound of voices can help ease separation anxiety and help the pet feel a little less alone. It’s also been known to help dogs that have some anxiety about thunderstorms to lessen the noise. So if you are at work and cant get home right away if a storm arises, it’s nice to know your dog has some distracting sounds in the background to help during the storm.

We’ve also know some folks that have had good luck with leaving a shirt on a pillow that smells like you. It’s something they can cuddle up on the couch with while you’re gone. If you want to get techy, there’s cameras that can be set up too that you can video chat with your dog during the day! Making sure your dog has time to go for a walk in the morning to drain some energy before a long day alone can also help.

There’s lots of way to help a dog through some separation anxiety. If you’d like more information please contact us. We’d love to talk to you about your pet and what it’s specific health and wellness needs are. Follow us on Tik Tok, Facebook and Youtube. And always Live Life Off Leash!
