Beauty from the Inside Out

Welcome back to the Live Life Off Leash Blog!

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want amazing hair?! Your dog is no different. Ok well, maybe they don’t “care” if their hair is great. But having a beautiful hair coat is a sign of good health from the inside out. A healthy coat is a sure sign of good nutrition, proper vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and fatty acids. In other words, just like longevity and joint health, a beautiful and healthy hair coat starts by feeding great pet food and supplements that support a body's ability to produce healthy fur.

Every breed of dog is going to have lots of different variation of what a healthy hair coat looks like. Labradors, wire haired terriers and afghan hounds all have different hair texture, and a different “look”. But they all require the same make up of healthy ingredients to create great fur. Often over processed dog foods literally can cook out all the vital vitamins and minerals originally found in the main ingredients. From over processing then they have to add the vitamins and minerals back in and often they come from synthetic sources. Not the greatest option for efficient utilization of those by your dog's digestive system. Make sure you are feeding a quality dog food that hasn’t been over processed and includes all the great ingredients necessary like pawTree.

Another way to ensure that our dogs have what it takes to make that healthy beautiful coat we all desire is supplementing them with fresh, ethically sourced supplements. One of our favorites is pawTree’s Salmon Oil Drops. It is rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acids that help skin, hair and nails all grow well as well as support brain function and other great things! It’s one of the healthiest and best supplements you can give any of your pets.

Whether you have a scruffy Scotty or the Marilyn Monroe of Collies, we all want our dogs to not only feel their best but to look their best and maintaining internal health for external vibrancy is the most surefire way to do that. If you’d like help deciding what the best food or supplement might be for your dog to help get those luxurious locks, send us a message. We’d be happy to talk about your pet and their needs. Until next time, don’t forget to Live Life Off Leash!
